Winning of the West is Roosevelt’s account the westward
expansion of the United States from the Allegheny Mountains to the
Pacific Ocean. Roosevelt’s writing was intended to allow all Americans
to experience and appreciate the land he so dearly loved, the land that
had transformed and defined him. The autograph manuscript leaf, with
many corrections in Roosevelt’s hand, corresponds to pages 20-21 of
this edition, a discussion of the origins and early wanderings of the
English-speaking peoples. Of the two hundred sets produced,
approximately half were issued in the full leather deluxe bindings.
Joint repair to volume one; only very light wear to handsome bindings. A
beautiful set. |
