Charles Dickens: David Copperfield
First edition in very rare original cloth

“It will be easily believed that I am a fond parent to every child of my fancy, and that no one can ever love that family as dearly as I love them. But, like many fond parents, I have in my heart of hearts a favourite child. And his name is David Copperfield.”

-Charles Dickens

Dickens, Charles. The Personal History of David Copperfield. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1850. Octavo, original brown cloth rebacked with original spine laid down. $7500.

First edition in book form, in extremely rare original cloth, of one of Dickens’ most celebrated novels. With illustrations by H.K. Browne (“Phiz”). Due to the popularity of the David Copperfield when it was first published, first editions in original cloth have become quite scarce. Light wear to cloth (mush less than usual), text exceptionally clean. A most desirable copy.
